Addis Ababa, Ethiopia May 9, 2010 – The Ethiopian Defense Command and Staff College graduated Saturday its 3rd batch of 55 senior Military officers. Some 18 military officers are foreigners.
Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, who is also the Commander- in-Chief of the National Defense Forces, handed over degrees and certificates for the graduates and awards for the outstanding trainees.
Speaking on the occasion PM Meles said, to discharge the responsibilities of the army and safeguard the country against any foreign invasion, the army need to be equipped with scientific knowledge.
Meles said the Ethiopian army is an army of peace, which has achieved colorful victories over many peacekeeping missions in Africa.
Meles said the Ethiopian army is capable enough to guard any foreign invasions.
College Commander, Brigadier General Negash Dagnew on his part said the graduates received many courses including military operation, strategic studies, military command and control, among others.
On the occasion, graduates said they are ready to defend any aggression and anti-peace elements against the country.
According to the Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency, some 37 of the graduates earned their degrees while the rest received certificates.
