Ethiopia, Italy sign grant agreement amounting to 6.15 mln. Euros

The governments of Ethiopia and Italy here on Friday signed a grant agreement amounting to 6.15 million Euros.

Addis Ababa, Ethoipia: May 7, 2010  – The governments of Ethiopia and Italy here on Friday signed a grant agreement amounting to 6.15 million Euros.
The main objective of the grant is to improve health and related hygienic conditions of the population.

The grant will be used to improve access to water supply services as well as health and hygienic conditions in five small and medium towns in Oromia, Amhara, Tigray and South Ethiopia Peoples’ States.

Finance and Economic Development State Minister Ahmed Shide and Italian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Raffaele de Lutio signed the agreement.

Ahmed on the occasion said the government has taken various measures to improve safe water provision in Ethiopia.

The minister also lauded assistance of the Italian government and expressed hope that the Italian government will further strengthen support toward success of development activities in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Raffaele de Lutio on his part said bilateral relation between Ethiopia and Italy has been growing from time to time.

The ambassador said his government will further enhance support to ongoing development endeavours of Ethiopia.
